  • Of course, grinding for items is a different kettle of fish altogether -although I suspect it's likely to be less efficient than simply taking hand-me-down items out of the shared stash. So you certainly aren't going to be able to grind yourself up to high levels by re-doing the same areas again and again because of the sharp xp drop-off and the small amount of level gain you do get will only be temporary and probably last for only half an act at the most before it reaches equilibrium again. That meant that I started act 2 a couple of levels above where I would normally be, but by half way through the act the game had stabilised itself and I was back on level target again. The second half got me a bit more, but the curve of xp-gained for monsters below your level meant that I was only really getting proper xp when re-doing the final dungeon. The result of this was that re-doing the first half of the act was completely pointless and netted me practically no xp. Then I re-rolled the world and did the whole of act 1 again before moving on to act 2. This article originally appeared in PC Gamer UK Issue 231. I've experimented with re-rolling to grind for xp, and it's barely worth it.Īs an experiment I created a character and did the whole of act 1.
